About Martin Mills

Martin Mills is in the animal nutrition business. Our present position has evolved from providing feeds that met general agricultural needs in our earlier days, through to a high level of involvement in the poultry industry. This was followed by active participation in both pet foods and fish food. Martin Mills involvement in animal food products is only one component of a multi-faceted company that include a variety of real estate and other investments.

Feed production reaches back to 1923 when the great grandfather of the current owners, Absolam Martin, purchased a chopping mill and began to grind grains for local farmers.

Fish food production began in 1972 when an informal relationship developed between Martin and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, aimed at meeting the feeding needs of the provincial hatchery system. We continue to have a significant level of involvement in the Ontario trout industry.

The Martin philosophy, that has now spanned four generations, is characterized by a genuine belief that the future holds promise and that ongoing innovations to pursue new opportunities are both a goal worth seeking and have the capacity to improve the lives of the people that work at Martin Mills and the customers whom they serve. We also believe that flexibility is key in an environment of change.

The Martin Family

Our line of aquaculture feeds includes Starter granules, Transition, extruded Sinking, Floating and Slow Sinking High Energy diets for use primarily with salmonids such as trout and char and cichlids such as tilapia. A specialty Koi and Goldfish food is also available for pond owners and aquaria.

In recent years, Martin Mills has focused on the development of an innovative line of consumer-oriented small pet foods. This process began in the early 1990‘s with the introduction of our first extruded rabbit food and since then has been extended to cover guinea pigs, hamster and gerbils, mouse and rat under the brand of little friends™. In total we now sell six different rations in a variety of package sizes that range from 225 grams to five kilos.

The same approach has been taken with our equine products. Martin Mills has a proven track record as a leader in the introduction of extruded horse feeds. Martin is Canada‘s leader in providing premium extruded feeds to meet the needs of horses at all life stages. Our horse feed line is now supplemented with an ever-expanding selection of our Special Moments™ Horse Feeds, designed to provide a special reward to horses for their excellent performance. Quality supplements and pelleted feeds have also been added to the line.

All of our products are manufactured in a HACCP approved facility by a team of dedicated employees.
