Kurt and Edith Vogel founded the company just prior to the start of World War II. The original products were hand stitched leather dog toys, leashes and collars and 100% catnip filled mice. Some of the original cat toy designs remain institutional even today. From its inception, the company has continued to evolve and grow systematically. Each of the past sixty years has experienced continued sales increases and profitability.

In 1953, Arthur Hirschberg joined the company and shepherded it during the meteoric growth that earmarked the American pet industry. Currently, he serves as the President of the company. Arthur has been an industry pioneer in sourcing products from emerging countries. Gary Hirschberg, Executive Vice President joined Vo-Toys in 1978 and has been responsible for driving the company forward into numerous classes of trade and into the international arena raising the profile of Vo-Toys, Inc. Today, the VIP/Ring 5 brands can be found in over 25 countries. Both Arthur and Gary Hirschberg served as presidents of the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association in 1976-78 and 1991-93 respectively.
